Harborough patients with musculoskeletal problems now have increased access to on the day physiotherapy appointments thanks to a new service commissioned by East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group (ELR CCG).
The service which began on 1 October is being piloted from St Luke’s Treatment Centre and enables patients to see a physiotherapist rather than a GP. It will provide an additional 5,000 appointments to patients registered with a GP practice in the Harborough locality during the winter period and by 31 March 2019.
Patients with new or recent musculoskeletal problems can book an appointment by calling their practice or by telephoning a dedicated phone line.
From next Monday (10 December 2018) the service will expand due to high demand and will offer an additional physiotherapist, increasing appointments to 200 per week. Additionally, there are plans to locate the physiotherapy service at Billesdon on Wednesday mornings to complement the St Luke’s clinic.
Patients registered at Market Harborough Medical Centre, Two Shires Medical Centre, Husbands Bosworth Medical Centre, Kibworth Medical Centre and Billesdon Surgery can access the physiotherapy service.
Those registered with Market Harborough Medical Centre and Husbands Bosworth Medical Centre should phone their respective practices to book an appointment.
Patients registered with Kibworth Medical Practice, Two Shires Medical Practice and Billesdon Surgery can access the service by phoning 01858 791082.
Appointments are available on the day and can be booked by telephoning between Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 4.30am, excluding Bank holidays. The opening times for the clinic are Mondays to Fridays between 8.30am and 5pm, excluding Bank holidays.
