Get your Covid jab while you shop at Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre this weekend

12th January 2022 | By Communications Team | Posted in

People in Beaumont Leys can get the COVID-19 vaccine while they do their shopping this weekend as a pop-up vaccination clinic is coming to the local shopping centre.

The clinic will be in Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre Car Park, Beaumont Way, Leicester, LE4 1DE from Friday January 13th to Sunday January 15th between 9am and 4pm. On Friday it will be open to those aged 16 and over, and on Saturday and Sunday it will be open to ages 12 and over. All clinics will offer the first, second, third and booster dose.

Dr Caroline Trevithick, Executive Director of Nursing, Quality and Performance and Deputy Chief Executive of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Groups, said: “If you are in Beaumont Leys and are due for any covid vaccine dose, please come along this weekend to get it done. It’s a walk-in clinic so there’s no need to make an appointment, just drop in – if you’re out doing your shopping you can get the vaccine at the same time.

“We are really pleased to be able to offer this clinic in the heart of Beaumont Leys; we want to provide clinics in our local neighbourhoods, to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get their vaccines. We hope to see lots of people taking advantage of the clinics this weekend.”

Anyone aged 12 and over can get a first or second dose of the vaccine. Children aged 12 to 17 can get the 2nd dose from 12 weeks after they had their first dose.  Those aged 18 and over can get their second dose after eight weeks.

A booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is available for everyone aged 18 and over, at least three months after their second dose.

Children and adults with particular health conditions may be eligible for extra vaccine doses. More information is available online at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-vaccine/

The booster vaccine is highly effective at reducing the risk of catching COVID-19 as well as reducing the chances of becoming seriously unwell and needing hospital treatment for those who do contract the virus. People who have not kept on track with their vaccines can still come forward for their first or second dose – it is not too late.

Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland CCGs (LLR CCGs) have a number of walk-in clinics available this weekend, making getting vaxxed quick and simple. Clinic locations this weekend include Loughborough, Glenfield and Leicester General hospitals, Leicester Royal Infirmary, Groby Road Medical Centre, Boots at Fosse Park, Melton Sports Village, Oakham Enterprise Park and the Jalaram Community Centre in Westcotes.

Before going along, please check the opening times, which age groups can attend and the vaccine doses that will be available at: https://www.leicestercityccg.nhs.uk/my-health/coronavirus-advice/coronavirus-vaccine/
