About urgent care services

The new urgent care service for East Leicestershire and Rutland provides patients with more choice and increased access to healthcare at weekends, bank holidays and evenings. Minor injuries and illnesses are treated locally and the service aims to reduce the time it takes patients to be seen and treated.

How we consulted on the new service

The public consultation on improving urgent care services (minor injury and illness) in East Leicestershire and Rutland was completed in 2014 and in June the East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group’s governing body approved plans to change how urgent care services are provided.

The governing body backed a recommendation to approve the CCG’s preferred option – option three – with some minor amendments.
